We are happy to introduce the ‘Email insights’ feature in Zoho Invoice, which lets you know when the emails you send (invoice/estimate/retainer invoice) are opened.

We know when the invoice is sent, with email tracking can we not be told when the invoice is opened by the customer

When I send an invoice or a bid to a costumer, I like to get notification that they received it, I do put in a note in the Email saying, please reply to confirm reception, but most of us know that most people will not do it.
A read receipt request would be a nice feature, To an already awesome program "site"!

Meanwhile can you try client portal? Client portal is a self-help portal from where your customers can view invoices, pay them, view estimates, accept/reject them, etc. Recently we added an option to display the logged time entries in portal.
Once you enable the portal, when your customer views the invoice/estimate we mark the invoices/estimates as viewed. We also add a comment in the invoice/estimate, that your customer had viewed it. Refer this help for more details: https://www.zoho.com/books/help/client-portal/
