Item Folders for organizing Items & Composite Items
I'm using the grouping feature more to organize my product lines into something like folders so that it's easy to find the associated items. But I quickly run into problems if I use item grouping because it's tied to transactions. If one makes a mistake in adding an item to a group it can be a major pain to try to fix it.
I think a simple "item folders" mechanism that does not care whether an item is a item or composite item and also does not care about transactions but simply for organizing would be useful. In this type of a feature even subfoldering would ok because it's all more for display purposes and not tied to the transactions.
It is very easy to have 1000's of items and composite items but there is currently no way to organize these items to be more manageable.
We have released categories in Zoho Inventory. Please use the link for more details.

Why so many apps....and not less with more capabilities??. All developers do the same. Including Microsoft, it keep adding, adding, and adding "features" no one use, and the core functionality is slow, incomplete, with bugs, etc. etc. I think developer need more focus.

Agreed. Need to organize similar items. I have done this as Item Groups as of now, but then the problem is I cannot see only active items under Item Groups. And I see all the old items that I have sold out of that are similar to my current product category.

I think Categories and Sub-Categories would be great assuming that it can be a mix of Items & Composite Items..

I agree, item groups should be treated as simple folders for the sole purpose of organizing items and shouldn't be tied to any specific attributes or transactions.
