After I saw the first photo, I thought that the motorcyclists would be smashed to pieces.
One way to test the sealer is to apply a small amount of water-based sealer to a test spot and see if it absorbs. If it does, you can assume the original sealer was water-based. It's possible that the antiquing coloring could prevent the sealer from absorbing, but it's worth a try.
