    I utilize ESTIMATES, and then send partial invoices to the client. My current, clumsy process:

    Create Full Estimate
    Change Estimate to Invoice
    Update Invoice to reflect 1/3 up front payment
    Clone Invoice twice for middle and final payment.

    The process works, and does require some human input if there are multiple line items... but I imagine the amazing zoho team could provide some support to simplify.
