As a work-around for my newer clients, I download the Account Transaction report for all accounts into a csv, sort the data by account code, and then subtotal net amounts (debit - credit) by account code.
It's not perfect by any means (especially because a clean chart of accounts is more difficult to maintain in Zoho since it's not a required field and values don't have to be unique).
Please be aware that the current download seems to poop out around 15K in transactions - so you may need to download account transaction in multiple rounds. :(
Even under our work-around, I'm afraid we would have to do a lot manual clean-up in the event of an audit. Not wise to provide the IRS more info than they request. However, this approach does allow us to see account transaction activity and tie it to balances until Zoho can provide a real report.

Please be advised that the current "General Ledger" report is not considered a true general ledger by most accountants. There is no opening balance - and now way to see detail supporting the balances.
