Make Sales Order Reference# Automatically Available When Creating Invoice
When creating a new Sales Order it very common to reference a customer's incoming purchase order number, and this is sufficiently accommodated by the Reference# field.
However, when creating a new invoice from within an existing Sales Order that has a Reference#, the Reference# is not available. Instead the actual Sales Order number is added. This should not be the case because a sales order number should be an internal tracking number, while a reference number should be for external reference (such as a customer's purchase order number).
It is further confusing because the Invoice template has a "Reference Field" item, but this field is also automatically tied the Sales Order number, not the Reference#.
Can we please clearly differentiate between a Sales Order Number and a Reference Number, and have them both available when creating an invoice? We can then decide whether we want either or both of these to appear in our Invoice templates.
Thanks, and keep up the great work!

There are two different fields we are talking about here. On a Sales Order we have:
- Sales Order# which is generated automatically (usually) and should be the internal document number
- Reference# which would be where I would expect to enter a customer's PO number. On the invoice template only one of these is available. It is described as 'Reference Field' but is actually populated with the Sales Order #, NOT the Reference # from the Sales Order. So this feature is NOT AVAILABLE as has been marked.
Having said that I currently get round this by replacing the SO# with the customer PO# where I need to show this on an invoice. This is not ideal but works.
