Better deposit system
I have some clients when doing web design who give a deposit. I would like to be able to add the deposit and then be able to apply invoice items to it as work and expenses are completed.
For example a client pays $1000 deposit.
I perform 10 hours work at $50 an hour. I create and invoice and apply the deposit to the invoice so now the deposit sits at $500. etc.
I have tried the retainer invoice but do not quite find the usefulness of it as i cannot apply it to work done. Even if it could be included as a payment form would be useful.

Retainer invoice would be the right way to go about this. By creating a retainer invoice from within the project, the retainer invoice would be linked to that project, fulfilling your needs. To know the exact steps, you can refer this help document as well :)

Me too.
I'm currently using freshbooks and they have this system. Makes sense. It works.
Its simply stated, 'request a deposit' and this is very clear to the user.Please add an option for this.
