Pro Forma Invoice
Invoicing software that does not have a facility to generate pro forma invoices is not a proper invoicing software. Pro forma invoicing is a daily part of running a business and all business will one day or another need to issue a pro forma invoice to a non credit customers.

That's what retainer invoices are... and they have a specific state for tax purposes so that they are kept separate from taxable revenue. If you research the definition of Pro-forma versus Retainer invoice there is virtually no difference other than one is considered marginally more legally binding than the other. The tax treatment is the same.

Please explain what a Pro Forma Invoice is as i understand its subject to confirmation by payment and then an actual invoice is produced,so to my knowledge it should actually be just an estimate/quotation. It seems that i am missing something, please explain guys

You can create another Estimate Template, and title it "Proforma Invoice".
Then when you create an estimate (depending on the customer) you can send him an "Estimate" or "Proforma Invoice". Same information, on a different template. Just pick the template you want to use for that particular customer.
Not as good as a proper Proforma Invoice function, but a decent work around I think.

This is an excellent way to organize your invoices which are 80% done but still need some details sorted out. Please, consider this as an important feature!
