  1. Ad hoc entry of Time and Charges

    Service based businesses do not always use projects. We use one-off service activities for clients. I need to be able to enter as such:

    ABC Company 1 hr $95/hr Remove virus from computer
    ABC Company 1 $3/ea Sticky that says "Don't click on virus"

    It is ludicrous to think we have to make a Project AND a Task for every time entry.

  2. work order

    We think and need in Work Order Module to manage our work orders.
    Fields like Work Name, Work Detail, Problem / Solution, Start Time, End Time, Asigned to, Due Date, Materials List, Estimate Cost and others like that can be very useful.
    We are working with Some Apps to do our work but the very important think will be Make a Work Order, and when finished Invoice it from the invoice module.

  3. Allow projects to be set up as fixed fee but invoice can show tasks and cost per task instead of only by hours and hourly rate

    Most of my projects are fixed fee by task, but I still track the hours by task. I want to show each of the tasks as a line item on the invoice but I want to bill by fixed fee and not by the hours spent. The hours spent are only for my internal information.

  4. Recurring invoices that includes unbilled time entries

    As a services business we automatically invoice many of our clients monthly for services and need to track the time of our consultants against these monthly services. We have recurring invoices set up, and we have projects and timesheets set up, but there doesn't seem to be a way to connect them. I don't want to manually create an invoice from each project each month yet there doesn't seem to be an option to create a recurring invoice from a project.

  5. Project Completed / Finished

    It would be great if we have an option to mark the project as completed or finished. So we don't need to keep all the projects in same list or at least we will know what are the on going projects and what are the finished projects.

  6. Bulk actions in timesheets

    Not only delete but change the project assigned, the task, the billable status, ...
    Also enhance the selection criteria to manage timesheets, not only by status and dates, but by client, project, staff name, task,... in order to perform bulk actions more effectively.

  7. Tasks within Project priced by different methods.

    Allow tasks within a project to be billed by different methods. Example, one task is billed by a fixed price and one task is billed hourly.

  9. Provide option to view unbilled hours in terms of total $ in the project summary on the dashboard

    In the Projects section of the Dashboard, I can view how many hours are currently unbilled, but as different projects (and tasks) often have different hourly rates, it would be helpful to me to be able to see the total unbilled $ associated with these projects (and not just the # unbilled hours). This would help me have a sense of what to expect cash flow wise with my next set up of invoices and not have to click into each project and then tally them up to do so!

  11. Allow rename of Projects and Tasks

    After a project or task has been invoiced, you cannot rename it. While I can understand why (referential integrity in the database), this is a terrible restriction. Prior invoices with the old name shouldn't need to be affected, but sometimes details of a project evolve, and renaming is helpful (especially if you discover a typo).

  12. Bulk Actions in Projects/Timesheets

    Ability to add/remove users to multiple projects. For example, what happens in the situation where you have 500 active projects, and you need to add a new employee to the projects? Currently, you need to manually add the user one project at a time.

  14. Add goods sold to timesheet

    It would be nice to be able to add goods sold like you can add expenses to timesheets. Items that are sold are different then expenses because goods sold will have a markups and ossible sale tax were as expenses do not. Right now if I sell something to my customer through out the month I have to remember to add the item to the invoice after I great it through timesheet at the end of the month. It would also be nice to setup task as tax exempt. Labor doesn't get sales tax add to it but by default…

  15. Fixed Fee Project Profitability Summary

    Most of our projects are fixed fee. Unfortunately, the Profitability Summary in Books does not calculate fixed fee projects profits correctly.

    It is a simple equation: PROJECT PROFIT = INVOICED AMOUNT PAID - (minus) (PROJECT EXPENSES + LABOR COST).

    For Example we invoice a customer $3,000; expenses total $800; labor costs total $700; total cost is $1,500; gross project profits are $1,500 or 50% margin.

    Currently Profitability Summary only accounts for expenses.

  16. Customize views to filter by customer

    It would be ideal to have additional filters for projects, so that you can view all projects for a particular customer. This is particularly useful for those of us with multiple projects per customer and multiple customers.

  17. Task in the Timesheet could be categorized.

    When an Invoice is created, the item sold is assigned a category. We use these categories to evaluate revenue amounts by category.

    It would be helpful if tasks in the Timesheet Projects could be categorized also.

    Currently, all of the revenue received through projects tracked in the Timesheet area of Books appears in the uncategorized line item in reports so we can not tell what kind of project/revenue has been created.

  19. add the ability to invoice a % or fixed amount from the total of a fixed price project

    Large projects are often billed in 3+ invoices at varying percentages or fixed amounts. For example, I need to invoice 25% upfront, 25% halfway, and 50% upon completion.

  20. Add ordering feature.

    Allow a customer to log on and choose what item they want to order. This would start a work order automatically.
